NASA APOD
NASA's daily space picture
NASA's Astronomy Picture of the Day, edge to edge, with the title on a translucent strip you can turn off. Works with zero setup on NASA's shared DEMO_KEY; paste your own free api.nasa.gov key if you run several devices. Video days show the video's thumbnail when NASA provides one and a starfield title card when it doesn't. On a server that has never fetched a picture the first render draws a starfield card instead of going near the network, and the picture arrives on the next refresh. A picture that isn't today's always carries its date.
